How we review
Every product on this site is handled by a writer who carries, shoots or teaches for a living. We buy most products with our own money. When a manufacturer sends a sample, the review says so. Nobody at a brand sees a review before it is published, and no brand can pay to change a ranking.
Our writers photograph the gear they review with their own phones, at their own ranges and homes. If a photo on this site is not ours, the caption says where it came from.

This site is built by instructors, veterans and gunsmiths who have carried, taught and worked on firearms for a combined total of more than 200 years.
Chris Raper — Owner
Chris Raper is a retired North Carolina lawman with more than 40 years in law enforcement. He founded Concealed Handgun Carry, Inc. in Elm City, NC and has taught the state-approved NC Concealed Handgun Carry class since January 2006. He is an NC DOJ certified Firearms Safety Instructor, NRA Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, and a graduate of Massad Ayoob’s Lethal Force Institute. Chris leads all content on this site.
