Quick answer

The best concealed carry gun under $500 is the Canik METE MC9 ($439.99 MSRP, ships with 12- and 15-round magazines, a holster and an optics-ready slide). The S&W Shield Plus ($499) is the best-supported budget micro-compact, and the PSA Dagger Micro (about $340) is the cheapest pick we would carry.

You do not need to spend $700 to carry a reliable gun. Every pistol on this list lists for under $500 (Glock’s at typical retail), and all of them come from makers with established carry lines. What you should not do is save money on a gun with an open safety notice — see the note on the Taurus GX4 below.

Budget guns to approach with caution

Taurus GX4: The GX4 lists for $359.99 and would otherwise be a strong budget pick, but Taurus runs a GX4 safety notice saying some U.S.-sold GX4 pistols may discharge if dropped and asks owners to check serial numbers. Check gx4safetynotice.com before buying or carrying one, especially used.

Ruger’s MAX-9 ($299 suggested retail for the base 12+1 model) is another bargain, but as of October 2026 Ruger lists only manual-safety models, all marked “Limited Availability.” Read our Ruger MAX-9 review before you buy one.

Spend the savings wisely

The money you save on the gun is best spent on a quality holster and belt, a spare magazine, defensive ammunition and training. A budget gun in a great holster beats an expensive gun in a cheap one. Amazon has a wide selection of gun belts and IWB holsters (it does not sell firearms). See the full best concealed carry guns of 2026 list for every price range.
